Memorial services for Mr. Robert Donovan Thompson, age 84, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday at Fayetteville First Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Clardy and Rev. Tommy Ward officiating. Mr. Thompson passed away Friday evening at Lewisburg NHC.
A native of Jasonville, IN, he was the son of the late Everette Earl and Robertine Reed Thompson. He was an engineer for the Army Missile Command, an Army veteran of WWII in the European theater, a member of Fayetteville First Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and served in various positions on the Administrative Board. He was also a Mason, Shriner, Knight Templar, and a member of the Civitan Club and Fayetteville Music Club.
Survivors include his wife Irene Elizabeth Bayless Thompson, daughters Catherine Elizabeth Lamar and husband Kenneth of Culleoka, Tennessee, Connie Robertine Walker and husband Larry of Murfreesboro, and Cynthia Sue Scrofani and husband Ross of Lebanon, and grandchildren Robert Thomas Walker of Murfreesboro, Kathryn Rose Walker of Murfreesboro, Chelsea Lenoir Ledford of Culleoka, and Rebecca Catherine Lamar of Culleoka. He was preceded in death by daughter Carolyn Anne Thompson
