Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Jo Hendon Barnes, age 76 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Monday at 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Barnes Cemetery beside her husband William H. ”Billy” Barnes. Mrs. Barnes passed away Thursday in Huntsville Hospital.

A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late James William and Lula Mae Hopkins Hendon and was a Homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter Patricia Barnes-Cothran and huband James of Columbia,TN, son Terry Barnes and wife Carol of Stanton, KY, son Timothy Shane Barnes of Nashville, TN, daughter Shannon K. Barnes and fiance Glenn Thompson of Vanntown, 9 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren, brothers Dan Hendon of Scottsboro, AL, Bill Hendon of MI, sisters Irene York of San Diego, CA, Geneva Cherry of IN, several nieces and nephews, Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her son Marty Ray Barnes and grandson Derek Anderson.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 5 PM until 8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

    I am so sorry to hear of Wilma’s passing. I spoke with her by phone just a few months ago and as usual, she was talking about her grandchildren, whom she loved so much.
