Born on April 8, 1938, in Madison County, AL, Raymond was the son of the late Floyd Posey and Annie King Posey Cantrell. On June 11, 1958, he married the love of his life, Nancy Sharp, beginning a beautiful 68-year journey together. Raymond was a lifelong farmer and nurseryman who founded Posey and Son Nursery in 1986, even holding a plant patent with the U.S. Patent Office. He was also an experienced logger.
An avid University of Alabama football fan, Raymond took great joy in hosting family birthdays at his home. In recent years, his great-grandchildren were truly the light of his eyes. Raymond was a faithful member of Vanntown Baptist Church. Simply put, he loved to work, he loved his family, and he loved the Lord. Raymond passed away on June 11, 2026, on the very farm where he was born.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Nancy Sharp Posey; children, Jeff (Janet) Posey, Lesia (Mitch) Bradley, and Amanda (Rodney) Johnson; grandchildren, Grant (Taylor) Johnson, Katie (Taylor) Underwood, Jamie (Chelsea) Decker, Jessica Posey, Lauren Weeks, Steven Hughes, Justin (Keisha) Hughes, Lindsey Williams; eleven great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
