Eugene, also known as Gene, was born on November 3, 1953, in Lincoln County, TN, to his late parents WG and Margaret Sue Rogers Thomas. Gene was a graduate of Central High School in Fayetteville, and worked in maintenance, dedicating 25 years of his life to working at Donalson Care Center. Gene had a love for playing the guitar which led him to join a band right after high school. As time went on, Gene merged his musical talent with his devotion to God and became a part of a Christian Band. His unwavering faith and deep desire to study the Bible led him on a path of further education in theology. Gene obtained multiple degrees, including a Master’s of Divinity from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Throughout his life, he served as pastor at various churches and taught Sunday School. At the time of his passing, Gene was an active and dedicated member of West End Baptist Church. The Lord puts all of us on this earth to make a difference in the peoples lives we touch. Our time on this earth is short!
Gene was a blessing to Uncle G and Aunt Sue
He made a difference in their lives. He was a blessing from God to them
He made a difference in the Rogers’s family as well.
Growing up all of our cousins were close, we always were hoping that we would amount to something.
Daddy and Mama moved Kathy, Larry and Linda to Marengo Illinois in November of 1957.
I didn’t see Uncle G, Aunt Sue or Gene much after that.
Usually when Daddy and Mama would take us home for Christmas.
I always wanted the things Gene got for Christmas seemed like his stuff was always better than mine.
Gene had musical abilities that God gave him and he used them to Glorify God
He was a blessing to Debbie , his children and grandchildren.
God uses us even in our hardest and toughest days. Gene had his share but always let his Light Shine.
In this life of care and woe,
I have traveled many roads.
I have had my share of misery and pain,
When I found my life was lost, in my heart I carved a cross and I wrote this song that I have lived to sing
Don’t you worry about a thing,
Jesus Christ is still the King.
He has brought me from the darkness to the Light.
Don’t you fret now don’t you doubt you will never be without.
Don’t you worry Jesus Christ is still the King.
Jesus paid it all!!
God bless you Debbie and your family.
