Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. William Buford “Buie” Simmons, Jr. will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Minister Bill Dorriety officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Mr. Simmons passed away Saturday evening at his residence.
A son of the late William Buford, Sr. and Mary Thelma Slayton Simmons, he was a native of Lincoln County, a retired meat cutter with 34 years experience, a member of the Lincoln County Historical Society and Sons of Confederate Veterans, a member of the Tennessee National Guard for 10 years, and a member of State Line Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Lollie O. Simmons, sons William Buford “Bill” and John Mark Simmons, daughter Mary Joy Simmons Crosby, all of Fayetteville, sisters Geneva Hickson of Lewisburg and Almeda Crowell of Shelbyville, and grandchildren James Garrett Simmons, Savannah Nichol Crosby, and Amanda Renea Simmons Long.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Toone, Murray Mathis, Dale and Larry Wheeler, Billy Pike, Tim Morrison, and Terry Pickett.
Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Monday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.
