Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wanda Gail Mitchell, age 61, of Mulberry, TN, who passed away on August 24, 2026, at HH Lincoln Health. Born on May 17, 1965, in Muscle Shoals, AL, to the late Herbert Evans and Dorothy Jean Crowel Evans, Wanda was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother whose heart was always happiest when surrounded by her family. She lived a life centered on the simple joys that mattered most, whether she was casting a line on quiet fishing trips, listening to her favorite country music, or taking trips back to Waterloo, AL—the cherished town where she raised her family and made countless treasured memories. Her warmth, love, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Wanda is survived by her children, Aaron (Brittany) Mitchell of Mulberry, TN, and Trista Simmons of Winchester, TN; her cherished grandchildren, Allisa Woods, Bailey Pruitt, Evan Pruitt, Huntlee Walker, and Aarion Mitchell; her great-grandchild, Myland; and her siblings, Michelle Sledge, Shirley Brown, and Rusty Evans. In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Randy Evans, Ricky Evans, and Betty Jean Evans.

Higgins Funeral Home is privileged to offer comfort, care, and support to the family of Wanda Gail Mitchell.

My heart is so sad to hear of your passing. We raised our children together at the Waterloo Church. I have many good memories from those days. Love and prayers to all the family.

I have wonderful memories of Wanda when her and I used to run around when we lived Next door to each other before we had our children , in fact the night I got married Wanda was at my Wedding and she went into Labor with Trista😁 then from that moment on we got closer because we started having our babies and we shared many moments together how proud we was of our little family … but like most families that has changes in their lives or most move away they began to drift away because of our life changing … but I always had my memories of Wanda, our Coffee times and our children growing up together until they also became teens and adults then they drifted also… I love you Wanda❤️ and I love our times we had going to church and seeing our children grow together RIP 💐
