Obituary

Funeral services for Wanda Fay Newgent, age 62 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Sunday at 1 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery. Mrs. Newgent passed away Thursday afternoon at her residence.

A native of Arab, AL, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Florence Rutledge Garrett. She was manager of the Dollar General Store and a member of the Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband Robert Aaron Newgent of Fayetteville, children Sandra Black and husband Thomas, Lisa Gay Newgent, Robert Glen Newgent, daughter-in-law Patricia Green, brother Kenneth Garrett, sisters Margaret Casey, Linda Rutledge and Charlotte Shilling, grandchildren Anthony Black, Hannah Black, Kailey Black, Rebecca Green, Mary Beth Green, Natasha Handcock, Dakota Jones, Rainna Quinlan, Trevor Feltman, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by children Douglas Green, Susan Michelle Newgent, a brother James Garrett and grandchild Deona Newgent.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening from 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

    I worked with Wanda at DG for the past 10 years. She was an outstanding person and co-worker. I learned so much from Wanda and she was such a great person. We will miss her so much. We are praying for all of yall.
