Funeral services for Mr. Tom Riggins, age 74, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 7 PM Tuesday evening at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Kirk Smith officiating. Burial will occur at 1 PM Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan, TN. Mr. Riggins passed away Saturday evening at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN.
A native of Weakley County, TN, he was a son of the late Paul D. and Casie Pentecost Riggins. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy in Oxford, MS and was a veteran of the US Army. He was an elder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Riggins was a past president of Fifth District Drug Association of Tennessee in 1965, a Shriner, and past president of Fayetteville Golf and Country Club. He moved to Fayetteville in 1964 and opened Riggins City Drugs. In later years, he was a pharmacist with CVS Pharmacies.
Survivors include his wife Sue Galloway Riggins of Fayetteville, son Dr. Matthew Paul Riggins and wife Sara of Piney Flats, TN, daughter Pamela Sue Riggins Callahan and husband Kevin of Memphis, brother Russell R. Riggins, three grandchildren Daniel Thomas and Katie Elaine Callahan both of Memphis, and Ian James Riggins of Piney Flats, TN. He is preceded in death by sister Elizabeth Nan Riggins.
Visitation with the family will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday evening at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church or the Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN.
