Obituary

Funeral services for Thomas Wayne Lyles, age 84, of Petersburg, TN will be held at 2pm on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Hunter and Jeff Pack officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Cornersville, TN. Visitation with the family will be from 12pm until 2pm on Monday at Higgins.

Tom was born September 14, 1939, in Alabama City, AL to the late William Crawford and Alice Hersteen Campbell Lyles. He was a custom cabinet maker and also built furniture and most anything else out of wood you could want or need. Tom was outgoing, loved talking, and he helped solve all of the world’s problems with his friends at breakfast at Tina’s Café every morning. He was a good husband and father, and loved being Pop to is grandchildren. Tom passed away August 2, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sue Works Lyles; daughters, Penny Lyles, and Kim Hester and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Terri Lynn (Jeff) Pack, Jessie Danielle Bennett, Jake Bennett; great-grandchildren, Charlie Wayne (Kaitlyn) Pack, Luke Bennett, Logan Thomas Pack; great-great-granddaughter, Addilyn Kate Pack; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a multitude of dear friends. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Lyles and Gary Lyles; and sister, Barbara Connor
