Funeral service for Mrs. Thelma McWhirter, age 79, of Fayetteville, will be conducted Monday, October 26, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Mrs. McWhirter passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. McWhirter was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late Frank and Lara Taylor McWhirter. She was a factory worker and cook and a member of the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her sons Donald Smith, Randall Smith both of Fayetteville, daughter Sandra Allen of Flintville, sisters Essie Hearndon of Forsythe, GA, Dixie Gordon of Macon, GA, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by son Steven Smith and daughter Glenda Beard.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
