Obituary

Funeral services for Thelma McGee Thornton, age 92 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Hudgins officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery beside her husband, James A. Thornton, who passed away in 2006. Mrs. Thornton passed away Tuesday.

She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Leon Clark and Margaret Levert White McGee. Mrs. Thornton was former seamstress with Serbin Fashions and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her four children Ronald Thornton and wife Bernice of Gainesville, FL, Norma Higgs and husband Jimmy, Roger Thornton and wife Margaret, and Eddie Thornton and wife Judy all of Fayetteville, grandchildren Nancy Thornton, Melissa Higgs Dorminey and husband Devin, Eddie Thornton and wife Tonya, Jennifer T. Harris and husband Greg, Allan Wade Higgs and wife Teresa, Kelli T. Wilkerson and husband Chad, Dale Thornton and wife Marcie and Jill T. Murdock and husband Patrick, great-grandchildren Austin Harris, Caden Harris, Whitney Towry, Katie Towry, Kira Thornton, Melana Murdock, Anna Marie Thornton, Piper Higgs, A.J. Beddingfield, Ryan Kinsey, Robert Wade Dorminey, Mikhala Dorminey, Lilly Higgs, Riley Holloway and Miranda Murdock.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

    I met Mrs. Thornton many years ago and she was such a precious lady. I knew her due to her son, Ron attending Berry College and was in our class. My heart and prayers are with all her family.
