Obituary

Graveside service for Teresa Jean Wright Sumners, age 58, of Taft, TN, will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Blanche Cemetery, with Bro. Michael Cothren officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Higgins Funeral Home.

Teresa was born on September 1, 1964, in Giles Co., TN, to the late Jesse Bradford Wright and Ruth Ellen Travis Wright. She worked as the production coordinator with Frito Lay for 23 years. Mrs. Sumners enjoyed farming, raising mini and toy Australian Shepherd dogs, and was an avid UT Football fan. Teresa passed away on January 14, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Danny Sumners; daughter, Dana Shay (Buddy) Gray of Knoxville; and grandchildren, Brayden Wright, Layton Wright, and Liam Gray. In addition to her parents, Teresa was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Matthew Wright; and brother, Gary Lee Wright.

    Teresa was absolutely the best person and friend. When I started frito I didn’t have very much faith in myself and she always had a way of making me feel like I could do anything. She will be greatly missed. Lots of hugs and prayers sent to her family in this difficult time.
