I used to ride the school bus with Mark a long time ago to Highland Rim. I remember where he and his family lived and hearing about some of the adventures his mother had on the farm. Mark was very good to my dad and was considered a good family friend. I’m so sorry to hear this news. He will be missed.

Mark and I started 1st grade together at Highland Rim. We graduated Central High in Fayetteville as the last graduating class of 1979. We lived across and grew up on Walker Creek near the stateline. We fished together on that creek growing up. I was at his and Missy’s wedding held at his family home near that creek 40 years back. I floundered around 15 years after that before I married. Trouble found us growing up now and then, but we were just country boys finding our way. Mark actually was a UT Vol and i was a blue raider from MTSU. Mark wanted to be a Vet. No sponsor and an 87 avg. wasn’t enough. Just as well, his calling was to manage a Co-operative and most important be a great husband and Father. We didn’t socialize after we found ourselves in life, but we knew we would always be lifelong friends. I am sitting on my front porch listening to the sounds you heard many nights, tree frogs, crickets, hoot owls, and coyotes. All are in unison saluting you and your achievements. God Speed , “PO”, Love you, ole Kite🙏🏻😊.

Missy I did not realize this was your husband until my son Bill told me this afternoon. I am so very sorry for you and your children. I always enjoyed working with your Daddy. He was a real Gentleman and wanted for everyone in the office to get along together. Missy it has been so long since I worked but I stell remember you as a little girl. If I can do anything for you please let me konw. I feel close to your family, I can not go to the Service as I do not get out much. Love to all of you. Joyce Kelso Johnson

It is difficult for me to picture Mark without a smile on his face. He was always a pleasure to be around.
He was a good listener with wisdom and insight, yet he served with great humility. May your family’s fond memories of him serve to lighten your grief and encourage you to be like him.
