Obituary

Mrs. Sarah Virginia Rogers Cowley, age 89, of Fayetteville died Thursday December 24, 2015 following a long illness. A native of Moore County, Tennessee she was the daughter of the late Johnnie “John” Luther Rogers and Elizabeth “Betty” Sullenger Rogers. Mrs. Cowley, the 6th of 11 children, was a homemaker and a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother: a woman of great faith, warmth and kindness.

Survivors are her children: Sandra Kay (Joseph M) Hardaway of Nashville, TN, Roger P (Mary Lois) Cowley of Wartrace, TN, Charles Michael “Mike” (Debbie) Cowley of Tuscumbia, AL, Jonie Elizabeth (Mike) Stiltz of Murfreesboro, TN, Lilly Suzanne (Brian) Godsy of Harvest, AL, Grandchildren: Melissa, Joe, Katherine, Laura, Ryan, Sarah, Chad, Chris, Tyler and Adam, 12 Great-grandchildren, Brothers: Billy Rogers of Mulberry, TN, Ray Rogers of Lynchburg, TN, and Clay Rogers of Tullahoma, TN, Brothers-In-Law: W. G. Thomas and Edd Hughes, Sister In Law: Melba (Ben) Williams, Special Friends and Family of the heart, Terry & Suzanne Billings and Terri Leigh & Joe Harper & children. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cowley was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Charles Milton “Bud” Cowley, sisters: Margie Rogers, Edwina Hughes and Sue Thomas, brothers: Leonard Rogers, Lawrence Rogers, James Rogers, and Clyde Rogers.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon December 29, 2015 at 1 o’clock at Higgins Funeral Home with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
The Cowley Family will receive friends at Higgins Funeral Home Monday evening December 28, 2015 from 4 until 7 P. M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Washington Street Church of Christ, Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation or the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund.
