Roy LeCrone, Jr., 91, of Fayetteville, Tennessee passed away August 15, 2022, at his home. A private family graveside service was held August 19 with Brother Houston Bynum officiating.
Roy was born June 29, 1931, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to LeRoy LeCrone, Sr. and Vivian Wilson LeCrone. He was married to Lyndal Wilkerson LeCrone for 62 years. A member of the Church of Christ, he worshiped with the Liberty congregation, serving as Treasurer until he was physically unable.
He was an Air Force veteran and a Purple Heart recipient, flying bomber missions during the Korean conflict. Roy attended the University of Oklahoma and was an Engineering Manager for The Boeing Company, from which he retired in 1986.
He loved all sports, but flying was his true love. He represented the United States in World Model Championships in 1964 (Budapest, Hungary) and 1966 (London, England). Roy was a licensed airplane pilot (instrument-rated) and sailplane pilot.
He established Valley Internet (vallnet.com) in Fayetteville in 1995, bringing to Lincoln and surrounding counties the first local internet service.
In the early 2000’s, he and Lyn lived in The Villages, Florida where the Church of Christ did not have a presence. He joined an effort to establish such, and in February 2007, the Villages Church of Christ met for the first time in its own building. Roy was involved in every facet of that project, and he always said that it was the most rewarding of his life.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Roy LeCrone, Jr.
