Funeral services for Robert Laud “Bob” Whitsett, age 84, of Fayetteville, will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. James West and Bro. Ronnie Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. He was a native of Lincoln County and son of the late Rollie and Sue White Whitsett.
Mr. Whitsett served in the US Air Force, was a member of the Fayetteville Lions Club for 20 years, and a member of the American Legion and VFW for over 50 years. He previously owned and operated Napa Auto Parts, was the Lincoln County Register of Deeds, and was real estate broker and owner of Universal Real Estate and Auction. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Betty June Faulkner Whitsett; daughters Audrey (Randy) Gentry, Cheryl (Gary) Damron, and Vickie Dorning; son Barry (Tabatha) Whitsett; grandchildren Amanda (Keith) Pierce, Chad (Lauren) Gentry, Ryan (Nancy) Damron, Matthew (Kayla) Damron, Robert “Rob” (Kelsea) Damron, Christina Dorning, Joseph Dorning, Mason Dorning, Laura Katherine Whitsett, Tyler Pitre, Kainan Whitsett, and McKeon Whitsett; great-grandchildren Kolton Pierce, Kellan Pierce, Kaity Pierce, Madyson Damron, Cooper Damron, Libby Damron, Rayelee Damron; great-great-grandson Dean Tate; and several loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitsett was preceded in death by a brother Tom Bert Whitsett.
Visitation with the family will be 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayetteville Lincoln County Humane Society.
