Obituary

A life celebration for Rilla Lee Sadler, age 82, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 7 PM on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until the time of service at 7 PM on Monday. Interment will take place at a later date in Nashville National Cemetery.

Rilla was born on September 6, 1942, in Detroit, MI, to the late Frederick and Violet Woolley. A devoted member of the Catholic faith, she found joy in bowling, playing Bingo, and traveling the country in her motorhome. Rilla also loved to dance and listen to Motown music. She passed away on September 22, 2024, at Lincoln Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Survivors include her children, Darnette Sadler, Dorothy (Jose) Aponte, Joseph (late Pamela) Sadler, and Dennis (Lynne) Sadler; grandchildren, Kristine Perez, Rico Perez, Mario (Linda) Perez, Steven (Natalie) Aponte, Erik (Ashley) Aponte, Joshua Galloway, Rachel Sadler, David Sadler, and Eric Hindman; brother, Patrick Wooley; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rilla was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Steven Sadler; son, Eric Sadler; and siblings, Frederick “Mike” Woolley, Jr., Barbara Fobar, Susan Baker, Donna Caramagno, Timothy Woolley, Irene Hill, and Mary “Teda” Spiteri.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Rilla Lee Sadler.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at St. Andre Bessette Catholic Parish (4250 W. Jefferson Ave., Ecorse, MI 48229).

    There are so many memories, but the biggest impression I had of her was her fierce love for her family. If you said or did anything against them she was coming for you. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She shared stories daily about all of them. Love and protection are my biggest impression of her.

    My memories of Aunt Rills are many but she was a cool aunt! We got away with so much because she didn’t want us to get into trouble. I love you Aunt Rills and know you are enjoying your family reunion in heaven.
