Obituary

Funeral services for Raymond Carroll Bradford, age 90 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Saturday at 10 AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Kirk Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Bradford passed away Wednesday September 25th at Donalson Care Center.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late William Mack and Anna Margie Pearson Bradford. Mr. Bradford retired from Ryder Truck Rental after 34 years as service manager and diesel mechanic, was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in World War II and a member of the Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder. His hobbies included woodworking, golf, gardening and small engine repair.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Martha Brooks Bradford of Fayetteville, two sons Malcolm Ricky Bradford of California and Harry Bradford of Murfreesboro, two daughters Betty Bradford Groce of Fayetteville and Barbara Bradford Groce and husband Terry of Apex, NC, grandchildren Brian Bradford, Susan Newnam, Becky Mahon, Heather Leslie, Audrey Groce King, Todd Groce and Tyler Bradford, ten great-grandchildren, two sisters Dean Honea and Dot Hudson and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by parents, six brothers and three sisters and son-in-law Rodney Groce.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

    So sorry to hear of Mr. Bradford’s passing. He fought hard for a long time. My grandchildren still play with wooden trucks and helicopters that belonged to their parents that Mr. Bradford made. Keeping you all in my prayers.
