He was an avid fan of the Tennessee walking horse and enjoyed attending horse shows around the middle Tennessee area. Phillip served as a deacon at the Washington Street Church of Christ for many years. He passed away on January 31, 2021 at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital.

Phillip is survived by his children, Murray (Jacquie) Lane of Billings, MO, Eric (Jennifer) Lane of Meridianville, AL, Scarlet Lane (Rick) Patterson of Fayetteville, and Jenny Lane (Lou) Pfister of Winchester; grandchildren, Zachary (Jordan) Patterson, Rebekah Patterson (Michael) Bean, Travis Lane, MacKenzie Pfister (Nick) Jackson, Ethan Pfister, Caroline Pfister, Samantha Pfister, Carter Lane, and Kaitlyn Lane; great-grandchild Luca Patterson.
