Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Lee McPherson Smith, age 84, of Fayetteville will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 1PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Davis and Rev. Mike Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.  Mrs. Smith passed away Monday night in Huntsville Hospital.

She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Lonnie McPherson and Betty Byrd McPherson Vaughn.  Mrs. Smith was retired from Elk Yarn Mills, a Red Cross Gray Lady and a member of the Hope Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her husband O.D. Smith of Fayetteville, three sons Ronnie W. Smith and wife Kaye, Michael W. Smith and wife Kathy and David W Smith all of Fayetteville, brother Alton McPherson of Harvey, Illinois, sister Becky Ennis of Ohio, four grandchildren Christal Gale Taylor of Fayetteville, LaCarrie Marie Means of Fayetteville, Michael Garrett Smith of Hazel Green, Alabama and Gloria Michelle Smith of Fayetteville and two great-grandchildren Hunter Logan Means and Jacob Ryan Means.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers J. D. McPherson and Kenneth McPherson.  Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
