Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Nina Ruth Mitchell Hobbs, age 84, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 1PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 11AM until the time of service at Higgins Funeral Home.

Ruth was born on March 9, 1936, to the late John Edward and Sallie May Sawyers Mitchell in Lincoln County, TN. She passed away on June 22, 2020 at Elk Valley Health and Rehab. Ruth worked as an aide for the South Central Human Resources Agency until her retirement. She loved playing bingo, crocheting, and collecting antiques. Ruth was loved by her grandchildren, who called her “Granny” and loved spending time at her home. Her family loved her chocolate oatmeal cookies and her dressing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Rigo) Reynoso; sister, Barbara Pearson; grandsons, Patrick Griffin, Jeremiah Griffin, Josh (Whitney) Jones, Antonio Reynoso, David Reynoso; granddaughter, Tiffany Hastings; great grandsons, Ryan (Jessie) Hastings, Joe Hastings, and Bryant Lynn; great granddaughters, Julie Hastings, Hannah Griffin, Paige Griffin, Shelby Jones, Opal Noles, and Aubrey Jones; great-great-grandchildren, Lilly Hastings and Emmett Hastings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Erskin Hobbs; daughter, Shelby Joyce Swinford; son, Doyle Glenn Griffin; and great-great granddaughter, Eden Joyce Hastings.

In accordance with State of Tennessee Executive Order No. 38 by Governor Bill Lee, social gatherings are limited to no more than 50 participants.
