Funeral service for Michael Eron Tinney, age 79, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 2 PM on March 16, 2024, at Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Fowler officiating. A private burial will follow at the Tinney Farm Cemetery with family. Visitation with the family will be from 12 PM until 2 PM on March 16th at Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
Mike was born on July 5, 1944, in Paducah, KY to the late Jack Gibson Tinney and Robbie McGuire Derryberry. Mike graduated from Butler High School in 1962 and went on a football scholarship to the University of Georgia to play tackle and guard. He finished his bachelors in Economics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church and served as chairman of the Deacons. Mr. Tinney was also a member of the TN Cattlemen’s Association and a Leadership Lincoln graduate. Mike was Vice President of Facilities Maintenance with SAIC of Huntsville. Mr. Tinney enjoyed hunting, cattle farming, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Mike passed away on March 8, 2024, on his cattle farm, surrounded by his loving family.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Cindy Steigerwald Tinney; son, Mike (Stephanie) Tinney, II of Birmingham, AL; daughter, Kristin (Terry) Mitchell of Tullahoma, TN; grandchildren, Conner Tinney, Cameron Tinney, Carsyn Tinney, Drake Mitchell, and Leigha Norwood (Michael); great-grandchildren Caleigh Norwood and Landon Norwood; brother, Ernest (Ginny) Hulsey; sister-in-law, Sarajane Tarter; brothers-in-law, Tim (Paula) Steigerwald, and Todd (Pam) Steigerwald; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Russel Hill Cancer Foundation, Huntsville HudsonAlpha Foundation for their Memory and Mobility Program, or Hospice Foundation of America.

Cindy, my heart goes out to you and your family. My son, Bret Mullinix, heard about this sad news and told me about it. We just wish we could come to Mike’s memorial service. We have precious memories of all of you at Hillwood Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL–and our children at Grissom High School.
