Funeral services for Mr. Melvin L. Stewart, age 78, of Flintville will be conducted Saturday at 2PM at Higgins Funeral  Home with Rev. Benny Hipps officiating.  Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.  Mr. Stewart passed away Thursday night at his residence.

He was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late James and Eva Buck Stewart, retired from Universal Atlas Cement in Gary, Indiana and a member of the Stewart’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Violet McVay Stewart of Flintville, children Stanley Stewart and wife Kathy of Belvidere, Cheryl R. Stewart Spies of Crown Point, Indiana, Richard L. Stewart and wife Deborah of Hammond, Indiana, Debbie D, Stewart Taylor of Holiday, Florida, grandchildren Jeremy, Josh, Kyle, Kristin, Korrin, Sarah, Hunter, Ciara, and Stewart, great-grandchildren Bailey, Avy, Tyler, Hannah, Tionna, Kamille, Caelyn, Bryson and Braden, and brother Charles Stewart of Fayetteville.  He was proceeded in death by sisters Josephine Harbin and Sarah “Tootsie” Stewart.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 12P-2PM
