Obituary

Funeral service for Mary Jo Harwell Owens, age 84, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Higgins Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM until 7 PM on Tuesday at Higgins. Burial will take place at 3 PM on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens.

Mary was born on August 26, 1939, in Dellrose, TN, to the late Rally Flournoy Harwell and Coby Alease Commons Harwell. She worked as an LPN for 52 years at Donalson Care Center, Lincoln Medical Center, and hospitals in FL and NC. Mrs. Owens was of the Baptist Faith. She passed away on October 20, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital Lincoln Health in Fayetteville.

Survivors include her sons, Roger Scott Harwell, and Stan (Tasha) Harwell; grandchildren, Haley (John) Cicero, Charity (Kevin) Ring, Rebekah Harwell, and Kaylee Harwell; great-grandchildren, Ashton Marshall, Landon Ring, Lilly Ring, Wyatt Cicero, and Charlotte Cicero; sister, Martha Lynn O’Neal; and brother, Phillip (Kathy) Harwell. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Owens, Sr.; and brothers, Bobby Ray Harwell, Dwight Harwell, and Douglas Harwell.
