Obituary

Funeral service for Mary Ellen Tipper, age 93, of Petersburg, TN, will be held at 1 PM on Thursday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Unity Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11 AM until1 PM on Thursday at Higgins Funeral Home.

Mary was born on October 20, 1930, in Dellrose, TN, to the late Clarence Buford Hughey and Nellie Allene Curtis Hughey. She worked as a seamstress and was of the Methodist Faith. Mary was a professional flower gardener. She loved tending to her many indoor and outdoor flowers year-round. Her green thumb could keep about any flower alive. Mrs. Tipper passed away on June 9, 2024, at NHC Oakwood in Lewisburg, TN.

Survivors include her sons, Kenny (Robin) Tipper, and Gary (Wanda) Tipper; grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Merritt, Hillary (Batman) Foster, Brent Harris (Brandy) Tipper, Kelly Tipper, Kacie (Taylor) Roberts, and Andrew Noble; sisters, Joyce Norwood, Juell Adams, and Elaine Moore; brother, Doug Hughey; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Leslie Tipper; daughter, Marilyn Sue Noble; brother, Ernie D. Hughey; and a sister, Patty Dorning, and Lois Norwood.
