Obituary

Marvin Leonard Fillyaw, Jr. was born on June 4, 1974 in Harvey, Illinois to Marvin Fillyaw, Sr. and Vivian Diane Fillyaw. He was the second child born to this union. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin, Sr..

Marvin had an easy smile and a quick laugh. In spite of his life-long struggles, Marvin had a strong love and desire to serve Jehovah. Marvin was kindhearted and generous and always willing to help anyone in need. Marvin never met a stranger. He was a great friend to have. Marvin loved his family and friends. Some of his favorite things to do were just chilling at home, cooking, watching movies nonstop, and tending his plants, Marvin will truly be missed.

Marvin departed this life on Friday, September 8, 2017. He leaves to cherish his loving memory three children: two daughters, Tatyiana of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Alyssa of Charleston, West Virginia, and one son, Latavious of Evansville, Indiana. Marvin also leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Vivian Diane Worthy of Fayetteville, Tennessee; one sister, LaShunda (George) Harris of Hobe Sound, Florida; two grandmothers, Gracie McKenzie of Chicago, Illinois and Shirley Fillyaw of Topeka, Kansas; one nephew, Maurice Fillyaw of Hobe Sound, Florida; one niece, Alisha McCoy of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Marvin will be conducted Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 3 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Clarence Groce officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. A repast will be held immediately after burial at the Hampton Inn in Fayetteville. Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 4 PM until 7 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Marvin Leonard Fillyaw, Jr.
