Obituary

Graveside Service for Ms. Martha Sue Burton Wiggins, age 99 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 2PM at Lynchburg Cemetery with Bro. David Miller officiating. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Martha Sue was born in Moore County, TN on January 24, 1922 to the late Lon and Carrie Huskey Burton. She worked as a seamstress at Serbin until their closing and then she returned to caring for her family and home full time. Martha Sue loved to cook, work crossword puzzles, writing letters, reading, watching Jeopardy and cooking shows, and studying her Bible. She would tell you if asked that her job was sitting in her rocking chair and watching the cars go by. She was a precious, dependable, strong, adored, and amazing grandmother as described by her family, but her greatest contribution to society was that people were better just because they knew her. Martha Sue was a member of the Lynchburg First United Methodist Church. She passed away on April 17, 2021 at Lincoln Medical Center.

Martha Sue is survived by her sons, Bob (Darlene) Wiggins and Bill (Sue) Wiggins; grandchildren, Melissa (Bradley) Haynie, Lea (Timmy) Richardson, Lyn (Mark) Cannon, Cody (Ginny) Robertson, and Alyson (Jay) Luzetsky; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Martha Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Wiggins, who she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage; sisters, Christine McBee and Lemoyne Tipps; and grandson, Robert Lynn Wiggins.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Ms. Martha Sue Wiggins.
