Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ruth Burns Mitchell, age 85, of Frankewing, will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Bee Springs Cemetery beside her husband James Marion Mitchell, Jr. Mrs. Mitchell was a native of Giles County, Tennessee and daughter of the late Louis Garland and Sally IvaLee Robinson Burns. She was a member of the McBurg Methodist Church, Woodman of the World and the McBurg home demonstration club.
Survivors include her children Patricia Ann Moon of Vinemont, AL, Sandra Fay (Gary) Welch of Tony, AL, and Bobby Gene (Donna) Mitchell of Delrose, daughter in-law Jo Ellen (Ricky) Honey of McBurg, TN; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren (with two on the way); brother Wade Burns of Frankewing; In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her sons William Larry Mitchell, Billy Mack Mitchell, and Steven Lee Mitchell; son-in-law Larry Moon; granddaughter Beverly Mitchell; brother James Olive Burns; and sisters Juanita Mitchell and Naomi Mae Durham.
Visitation with the family will be 5 until 8 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Martha Ruth Burns Mitchell.
