Funeral service for Mrs. Martha Dolen Haislip Smith age 86, of Fayetteville will be conducted Tuesday at 10 AM at Higgins Funeral Home, with Bro. Jim Black officiating. Burial will follow in Wrights Cemetery beside her late husband Lee Wayne Smith who died in 1997. Mrs. Smith passed away Sunday morning at Donalson Care Center.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Austin and Josie Brewer Haislip, a homemaker, and a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughters Sherrie Tomerlin of Fayetteville, Patsy Walker and husband Jim of Elora, Nancy Patrick and husband Brent of Shelbyville, sons Gary Austin Smith and wife June of Fayetteville, Jeffry Wayne Smith and wife Jill of Fayetteville, Anthony Lee Smith and wife Terri of Fayetteville, sister Peggy Mitchell of Fayetteville, ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by brothers Samuel, Morgan and Madison Haislip, and sisters Hassel Clark, Laurine McKinney, Catherine Beddingfield, and Myrtice Haislip.
Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Washington Street Church of Christ
