Still got those weird little keychain alien-things you had at your desk hanging off my backpack, your “beware of…well…just beware” sign is hanging loud and proud at my buddy’s restaurant on Colfax with the matching one still at his other place on Colorado, and your employee of the month photo is still hidden as deep as the one I wish you were there to see me hold for myself. It’s been ten days, Mr. B. Ten days my heart has been beating in a world without you, and it won’t stop aching. Not a single day has gone by since meeting you in that UAH art studio eighteen years ago that you haven’t been on my mind and in my heart. Thank you for painting to Bjork in 2002, so I had an excuse to befriend you. Thank you for sharing your corner and your equal opportunity stereo. Thank you for breaking into my Jeep for me, for doing little dances, for all the little gifts, for explaining dirty jokes and being my surrogate boyfriend, for every hilarious rant, for “mark-making,” and for fighting that unending battle over whether The Beatles or The Stones were more important to Music. Thank you for the countless good memories, and for being my friend. I love you.

I am very sad to hear about Mark’s passing. Mark will be remembered for his art and adventurous spirit, and as a colleague who did superior work. He will be missed by me, and by many others who had the pleasure to work with him, both professionally and in the Huntsville art community.

Mark and I worked together for a time. He was always passionate about his work and his love for art. As I said we worked together, talked and shared a laugh or two. Sad to hear of his passing.

Mark was the best man at our wedding and a true friend to my husband (who he called Mangus). He spent a lot of time with us in our late teens and twenties. He loved adventure and was a dreamer. Mark will be missed by many.

I will forever remember the things I learned from Mark; the way he loved, the passion for all art he had, our deep thought provoking conversations; but most of all I am beyond grateful for the people he brought into my life. Cindy, Jeff, Adam, Nan and Pop are and will ALWAYS be a part of my family and I have Mark to thank for these precious gifts.
