Marie Houlihan Haynes age 74 of Fayetteville passed away Thursday January 27th at her residence.
She was born March 11, 1936 in County Kildare Ireland. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Bridget Houlihan. At age 11 she emigrated to America with her family. Her father and older brother came 6 months earlier to establish residence. Her mother sailed with the remaining twelve children on a converted troop ship. They later grew up in Maryland. Preceded in death by her brothers Con, John, Thomas and William Houlihan and sisters Peggy Blanchard, Nellie and Mary Bridget Houlihan.
Marie was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who loved family gatherings and gardening. She was known as a very loving, generous and gracious person.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Russell Don Haynes of Fayetteville, sisters; Alice Cochran and husband Bill, Bridget Johnson and husband Frank , Noel Solury and husband Tony, Dorothy Houlihan and Brothers, Terry Houlihan and wife Frances, Pete Houlihan and wife Rosalie, all from Maryland, sons Michael Haynes and wife Bell of Fayetteville, Patrick Haynes and wife Jennifer of Fayetteville, Brian Haynes and wife Allison of Huntsville Alabama, daughter Anne Hanvey and Husband Mike of Fayetteville, grandchildren Angela Mefford and husband Jeff, Stephanie Haynes, Ryan Haynes, Joseph Haynes, Andrew Haynes, Brianna Haynes, Ashley Haynes, Austin Hanvey and Audrey Hanvey, great grandchildren Logan Davis and Emma Kate Mefford.
Family Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery with Reverend Allen Black officiating. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on Sunday February 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at O’Houlihans Restaurant in Fayetteville.
