Graveside funeral service for Mrs. Marianna Rey Murray Sumners, age 66, of Taft, TN, will be conducted at 2 PM on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Blanche Cemetery with Rev. George Turk officiating. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Sumners.
Marianna was born on April 18, 1952 in the Panama Canal Zone to the late Nelson and Anna Murray. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Blanche School for 25 years. She was an active member of Blanche United Methodist Church where she served many years as song leader. Mrs. Sumners passed away on March 29, 2019 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Sumners; children, Faith (Teemus) Hayes and Jonathan (Monica) Sumners; sisters, Marsha (Henry) Gray and Darlene (Daryl) Weir; granddaughters, Whitley Currier and Molly Hayes; grandson, Lawrence Guthrie; great-grandson, Hayden Currier; life long friend, Brenda Bradford; several nieces and nephews; and cats, Herman and Oscar.
Visitation with the family will be held at 5 PM until 8 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
