Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Mable Katherine Woodard, age 88, of Chelsea, AL, will be conducted Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. James Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Woodard passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Woodard was a native of Fayetteville, TN, the daughter of the late Aubrey Ephriam and Lillian Jane Sullivan Shelton. She was a seamstress for Serbin and Jonathan Logan and an active member of the Brogan Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include son Gerald Woodard and wife Elizabeth of Chelsea, AL, granddaughter Jennifer Woodard Godwin and husband Erik of Barrington, RI, grandson Jeb Woodard and wife Neela of Burbank, CA, great grandchildren Maddox Godwin, Finn Woodard and Cole Woodard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Woodard, siblings Edith Shelton Crumrine, Cleveland Shelton, Nell Shelton, Bill Shelton, Levoid Shelton and Janie Shelton West.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 10 until 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131.
