Graveside service for Mr. Luther R. Shelton, age 89 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Cemetery with Rev. Kirk Smith officiating. Mr. Shelton passed away Monday afternoon at his residence.
A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Shelton was the son of the late John Robert and Allie Hobbs Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a veteran of the Army having served in WWII, worked for the Lincoln County Highway Department and was a member of the Lincoln Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Ernestine Trentham Shelton of Fayetteville, son Larry R. Shelton of Fayetteville, daughters Joy Branch and husband Reagor of Fayetteville, Patsy Shelton of Fayetteville, grandsons Mickey Branch and wife Sarah of Fayetteville, Ryan Shelton of Nashville, two step-grandsons Steve Branch and wife Yvonne, and Braden Simms, step- granddaughters Lyndsey Bertram and Angela Branch, sister Jeralene Gilley of Fayetteville, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Bea. He was preceded in death by brothers Oliver Shelton, Floyd Shelton, James Shelton and T.A. Shelton and step grandson Reagor Lee Branch.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. Until 12:30 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations may be made to the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
