Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Luther Melvin (Luke) Mearse age 63, of Fayetteville, will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Herbert Mann and Andrew Pamplin officiating.  Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens.  Mr. Mearse passed away June 18, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Mearse was a native of Lincoln County and son of the late Roy Calvin and Lillie Mae Taylor Mearse. He was a self employed carpenter, and a member of the Flintville Church of Christ.

Survivors include, daughters Glenda Honey (Bobby Eslick) and Theressa (Dwayne) Cheeves all of  Fayetteville; grandchildren Robbie (Lacey) Honey of McBurg, Brittany Rogers of Flintville, and Lucas (Melissa) Garrett of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren Lane and Kylie Honey, Lexia, Jadyn, and Kingsley Garrett; sisters Effie Harmening, Hazel Watson, and Josephine Walker; brothers Roy (Joyce) Mearse, Rodger Mearse, Thomas Mearse, and Ricky (Teresa) Mearse; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Dean Pigg Mearse; son Scotty Mearse; son Thomas “Tim” Rogers; sister Martha Moore and brothers Albert and Lewis Mearse.

Visitation with the family will be 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lincoln Medical Home Health and Hospice.
