Obituary

A graveside service for Linda Faye Brown Gowan, age 81, of Fayetteville, TN will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Booneville Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Collet officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Faye was born December 12, 1941, in Moore County, TN to the late Farris William and Lurlene Goosby Brown. She retired from Jack Daniels Distillery as a bottler and farmed with her husband for many years. Faye was an excellent cook, a wonderful and supportive friend, and one of the kindest people you would ever meet. She enjoyed shopping and eating out, and her faith was extremely important to her. Faye worshipped at Booneville Church of Christ for many, many years. Perhaps her most loved role was that of “Granny Faye” to her “grands.” Faye passed away October 16, 2023, at Elk River Health and Nursing in Winchester, TN.

Survivors include her life-long friends and family of choice, Mike and Sandra Thomas, Betsy Thomas; granddaughters, Kalli and Vada; special friend, Scott Ulm; and her beloved cat, Flufffy. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Cowden Gowan; and brother, William Ray “Bud” Brown.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Linda Faye Brown Gowan.

I didn’t know Ms Faye, but was reading her obit. So sorry for your family’s loss. As I was reading, I noticed she was a Brown before her marriage. Believe it or not her brother that passed, William ,also called Bud there are Browns on my side ,deceased of course , who was William “Bud”Brown from Warren county. If you all would, when things calm down after a while, like to see if our ancestors are related please feel free to contact my email. God bless
