Obituary
YOUNG—Leroy Young, 84 passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Hillcrest Hospital in Knoxville, TN. He was born April 4, 1924 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Luther Ellis and Ruby Metcalf Young. Young entered military service on August 12, 1944 and was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. He owned and operated Young’s Radiator and Welding for over 30 years in Tullahoma, TN. Young retired in Fayetteville, TN. He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Over the years, Young enjoyed reading, hunting, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Young was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Young, Taft, TN; five brothers, Earnest Young, Fayetteville, TN; L.E Young, Fayetteville, TN; Paul Young, Park City, TN; Gilbert Young, Petersburg, TN; Jimmy Young, N. Bellmore, NY; and three sisters, Lucille Young Yost, Santa Barbara, CA; Betty Jean Young, Fayetteville, TN; and Eula Mae Young, Fayetteville, TN.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Young Phillips and husband Dale, Tullahoma, TN; Judy Young Matlock and husband Roger, Hillsboro, TN; and three granddaughters, Mindy Matlock and fiancé Robert Milligan, Manchester, TN; Lori Matlock Darden and husband Vann, Christiana, TN; and Sarah Phillips and fiancé Colby Burris, Cleveland, TN.
He is also survived by his sister, Thelma Ruth Johnson, Decatur, AL; sister-in-law and close friend, Betty Young, Petersburg, TN; as well many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19th 11am at Higgins Funeral Home, 213 East Market Street Fayetteville, TN 37334 with Bro. Jim Arrington officiating. Nephews, Richard Milliken, Tony Milliken, Dennis Young, Steve Young, Ray Young, and Mike Young will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive visitors Friday, July 18th from 5 until 8 pm. Young will be buried at Lincoln Cemetery in Fayetteville.
