Obituary

Funeral service for Ms. Leona Carter Tucker, age 93 of Taft, TN will be conducted at 1 PM on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Justin Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Leona was born on September 22, 1927 in Lincoln County, TN to the late William Richard and Ellen Vaughn Carter. She worked as a seamstress at Serbin. Leona loved crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, cross stitch, and cooking. She was known for her wonderful fudge. Leona was a member of the Fayetteville First Church of The Nazarene. She passed away on December 10, 2020 at Lynchburg Nursing Home.

Survivors include her sons, Mike (the late Ruby) Tucker of Shelbyville and Donnie (Tammy) Tucker of Taft; grandchildren, Bridget (Richie) Smith, Brandon (Farrah) Tucker, Wendy (Ben) Clinard, and Kimi Sutton; great-grandchildren, Rilee Smith, Reese Smith, Ty Tucker, Miguel Clinard, Ada Clinard, and Jayden Sutton; siblings, J.B. Carter, Etha Jean (James) Smart, and Barbara (Merle) Meed. In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her husband, James Tucker, grandson, Joey Sutton, and siblings, Edward Carter, Virginia Morrison, and Frances Stillman.

Visitation will be from 11 AM until 1 PM on Monday at Higgins Funeral Home.
