Obituary

Funeral services for Lawrence Gilbert Porter, age 83 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Thursday at 10 AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery beside his wife Carolyn Porter. Mr. Porter passed away Tuesday morning in Huntsville Hospital.

A native of Madison County, AL, Mr. Porter was the son of the late Lawrence Leon and Mattie Neal Porter. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army, retired from Redstone Arsenal and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Randy and Michael Porter both of Fayetteville and Larry Porter of England, brother Roy Porter of Rocky Mountain, NC, sisters Rochelle Moore of Fayetteville and Judy Bradley of Elora, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sisters Joyce City, Lois Thomas and Linda Fitch.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

    Rochelle, Judy, Roy Neal and family. So sorry to hear of Lawrence’s death. Many years have passed since we were all young together. I loved coming to your house, there was always so much going on and lots of fun. Your mom was always laughing and cutting up with us.
