Funeral service for Mr. Larry Lane Groce, age 75, of Franklin, TN will be conducted at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Mimosa Church of Christ with Bro. James West and Bro. Brian Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Kelso Cemetery.
Larry was a native of Lincoln County, TN and born on January 22, 1943 to the late Allen Johnson and Mildred Lane Groce Sanders. He was CFO of Harrison Audio and previously worked as a CPA with Groce, Baddour, and Associates. Mr. Groce formerly served as chairman of the Lincoln Co. Board of Commissioners, and he was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Mimosa Church of Christ. Mr. Groce passed away on August 4, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Survivors include his wife Catherine “Cathey” Cowley Groce; children, Christopher (Gena) Groce of Hazel Green, AL, Alison (Trevor) Johnson of Franklin, TN, Garth (Kalli) Groce of Yaounde, Cameroon; grandchildren, Brianna Groce, Tyler and Rachel Johnson, and Colby, Maddox, and Genevieve Groce; and siblings, June Gatlin, Carl Groce, Jean (Chuck) Brown, Christina (Bobby) Corder, and Sherry Norris.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o Cary B. Sullivan, Lincoln County Tribute Chair, P.O. Box 470, Fayetteville, TN 37334 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Heaven has another angel! Larry was one of the kindness and honest man I ever knew. He will be missed and never forgotten. He loved his family and his church. A true friend. I don’t have the words to say about this wonder friend…
