Kenneth Dale (Kel) Kelley of Fayetteville passed away on January 2, 2015 after a short battle with brain cancer. He was a strong and courageous Christian and met his illness with a positive attitude. Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wright’s Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 38 years, Carla Mitchell Kelley, of Fayetteville. Son, Joshua (Emily) Kelley; and daughter, Brittany Kelley (Travis) Wright. He was Poopah to one precious grandson, two year old, Foster Reid Kelley, all of Murfreesboro, TN.
He loved the family pets, dogs Puppy and Caylee Belle and cat, Callie. He was preceded in death by one precious 18 pound cat, The Colonel.
He leaves behind a brother in law Mike (Donna) Mitchell, nephew Shawn (Amanda) Mitchell, niece Casey Mitchell, and great nieces Hannah and Ashley Mitchell, all of Fayetteville.
Brother Larry (Betty) Kelley of Taft. Sisters Maryland Wray and Jackie Lanier of Lawrenceburg. Brother in law Walt Barnett of Idaho. Many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, church families and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Windle Franklin (Wince) and Nora Ella Kelley of Taft, bother Jerry Kelley of Nashville, and sister Mildred Kelley of Idaho.
He was immersed into Christ as a teenager and is a member of the Church of Christ at Washington Street. Over the years he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and missionary, coach, and a licensed auctioneer. He enjoyed reading the Bible, gardening, knives, marbles, paperweights and his friends at The Round Table. But most of all, he enjoyed his family. He was retired from Goodyear-Dunlop and CIA Holdings.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Kenneth Kelley memorial fund at First National Bank.
