Obituary

Graveside service for Mrs. Judith Ann Jean Shelton, age 71 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Monday at 3 pm in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Shelton passed away Saturday at Alive Hospice of Nashville.

Mrs. Shelton was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late Melvin Jean and Mattie A. Clem McMunn. She was a secretarial clerk and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her son James Royce Shelton, Jr. of Lynnville, TN, daughters Teresa Ann Davis and husband Jeff of Athens, AL, Sharon Denise McGee and husband Keith of Fayetteville, brothers Wayne Jeans and wife Evelyn of Fayetteville, Pete McMunn and wife Sharon of Ringold, GA, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation prior to the service. Higgins Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203 or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.

I would rather have one little rose from the garden of a friend than to have the choicest flowers when my stay on earth must end. I would rather have a pleasant word in kindness said to me than flattery when my heart is still, and life has ceased to be. I would rather have a loving smile from friends I know are true than tears shed ’round my casket when to this world I bid adieu. Bring me all your flowers today, whether pink or white or red; I’d rather have one blossom now than a truckload when I’m dead. Anonymous

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Judith Ann as a very sweet, polite girl. Judith Ann and I went to Robert E. Lee and Central and were in Girl Scouts together.
We had some good times in scouts and school. I lost touch with her after high school.
Again, my condolences to her family.

Ms. Judith was such a joy to help. She was so appreciative and always asked about others. I will miss her sweet voice.
