Obituary

Funeral service for John Stephan Bowden, known to many as “Lil John”, will be conducted at 10 AM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Stewart Cemetery.

Mr. Bowden was born on December 18, 1971, in Cook County, IL to Irene (Jim Osgood) Proc Bowden and the late John Calvin Bowden. He worked in shipping and receiving for Copperweld and was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church. Lil John loved Chicago sports including the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and White Sox. He also enjoyed Alabama Football, spending time with his children, playing video games and wrestling. Mr. Bowden passed away on February 10, 2018.

In addition to his mother, Lil John was survived by his wife Kim Barkan Bowden; children, A.J., Trenton, Chase, Dylan, and Brooke Bowden, Kathie (Tim) Walsh and Kris Parks; grandchildren, Alexander Bowden, Daniela Carvatta, Scarlett Walsh, and Isabella Walsh; siblings, Tania (the late John) Strike, Nicholas Bowden, and Lucas Bowden; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Visitation with the family will be 5 PM until 8 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Lil John Bowden.
