Obituary

Graveside services for John Lindsey Smith, age 65, of Summerville, SC., formerly of Lincoln County will be conducted Thursday at 10AM at Macedonia Cemetery with Bro. Paul Clayton officiating and with Higgins Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Smith Passed away Saturday at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital.

He was born in Nashville, TN, son of Lindsey Blake “L.B.Smith and John Ann Goodson Smith who survives. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of services and was a Vietnam Vet. He worked for Berkeley County School District for 4 years as a school bus driver and was a member of the Summerville Church of Christ.

Survivors in addition to his wife Betty and mother Ann are two daughters: Genolyne “Lyne” Matthews (Thomas) and Mari Schrimshaw (Chris) both of Knoxville, TN, one son John Adam Smith (Michelle) of Melbourne, FL, eleven grandchildren Genolyne Matthews, Nash Matthews, Coleman Matthews, Christopher Matthews, Jennifer Schrimshaw Grile, Kimberly Schrimshaw, Rachael Gene Schrimshaw, Benjamin Schrimshaw, Adryanna Lindsey Smith, Colton Blake Smith and Kyleigh Smith, four great grandchildren Eva, Torin, Kyra and Raiden.

    John, you were a good friend, I am sad to know your gone, there will be an empty spot in my heart. I have been looking for you and Betty for years. Gods speed my friend, we had some good times riding our dirt bikes in our younger days. I still ride and race and this year of racing will be dedicated to you my friend……..Leo
