Obituary

Funeral service for John D. Parks age 87 of Dallas, TX formerly of Fayetteville will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Brown’s Temple AME Church with Rev George Parks officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. Mr. Parks passed away Tuesday October 2nd in TX.

A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Hurley and Lillie B. Marshall Parks. Mr. Parks was a former employee of Amana Refrigeration and a member of the Methodist AME Church.

Survivors include his children Beatrice Burns of Smyrna, TN, Margaret Ward of Richardson, TX, Valerie Parks of Dallas, TX, Alton Parks of Lavergne, TN, and Connie Parks of Denver, CO, grandchildren, Shana Ward Murphy and Maxwell Murphy both of Richardson, TX, Vincent and Victor Parks both of Nashville, TN, and Rodrick Gathings of Lavergne, TN, two sisters Odell Stinnett of Spingfield, OH and Edna Smith of Dayton, OH.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.

Rev. Lance Shelton is the minister of the church. Friends and family will gather at the church after the burial.

Higgins Funeral Home is assisting the family of John D. Parks.
