Funeral services for Mr. John Allen Pierce, age 87 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Sunday at 2 pm at Washington Street Church of Christ with Bro. Jim Black officiating. Burial will follow in Wright’s Cemetery beside his wife Mrs. Mary Owena Ellis Pierce who passed away in January of 2012. Mr. Pierce passed away Friday morning in Lincoln Care Center.
He was a native of Giles County, and the son of the late Fitzhugh Lee and Mary Catherine Lanier Pierce. Mr. Pierce worked for NASA and was a contractor, Mr Pierce served in the Army in World War II and a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ where he served as an elder .
Survivors include his son Ricky Pierce and wife Sara Jo of Fayetteville, grandchildren Andrea Delap and husband Randy of Fayetteville, Beth Jones and husband Zach of Louisville, KY and Dale Pierce of Fayetteville, two great-grandchildren Aron and Georgia Jones.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 12 pm until time of services at 2 pm at Washington Street Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Honduras Mission Fund.

Mr John was a Godly man. That is such a comfort for you I am sure. When I visited him at Lincoln Care he always recognized me as Bobby’s wife and asked about him. Sad that those of his caliber have and are leaving us. We are glad he was our friend.

I am so sorry for your loss of Dad, father-in-law, grandfather. We will all remember him as a wonderful man and truly loyal and devoted Christian man. As a family member you all have a deeper more enduring loss but as he taught you you know he is now with Mrs. Pierce and angels are welcoming him home with open arms.
