It is regret we announce the passing of Joe Loyd Swing age 84 of Fayetteville, TN. Graveside services were conducted at Wright’s Cemetery.

Joe was born September 26, 1936 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Robert Elijah and Susie Askins Swing. He was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ and worked for many years as a grocer at Jim Webb’s Food Market, Piggly Wiggly, and Star Market. Joe enjoyed people and especially loved his time driving the “Pill Wagon” for Carter’s Drug Store. He was an avid fan of Tennessee Titans and University of Tennessee football. Joe passed away on August 27, 2021.

Survivors include; son, Mike (Shane) Swing of Columbia, TN; daughter, Melissa (Jack) Vickery of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren, Francis (Santiago) Rodriguez, Joe Alexander Swing, Caleb Swing; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Natalie, Noah and Norah Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Ruth Smith Swing; siblings, Robert Swing, Thomas Swing, Mildred Daniel, Paul Swing and Dora Kelley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Joe Swing.
