Funeral services for Joe Donald Brown, age 84, of Fayetteville, TN will be held at 1pm on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Wiser officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 11am until 1pm on Friday at Higgins.
Mr. Brown was born August 12, 1939, in Ardmore, AL to the late Johnny Brown and Edith Shelton Brown. He was a member of the Army Reserves and a technical illustrator for the US Department of Defense for most of his working life. Joe had many talents which he expressed in various ways. He was an accomplished musician playing the trumpet and saxophone, he enjoyed woodworking and furniture making, and for many years he was a sign painter hand painting logos and signs for various businesses and organizations in the area. Joe also enjoyed computers and he designed the new building for the Taft Church of Christ as well as the stained glass. One of his most significant roles was that of preacher, serving in that capacity for many churches of Christ throughout Lincoln County for 52 years. Joe loved the Lord, and he loved his family, and he was particularly proud of his grandchildren. Mr. Brown passed away with his family by his side on June 17, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joyce Brown; son, Jeff Brown and wife Wendy; daughter, Lisa Edwards and husband Mark; grandchildren, Hunter Brown, Carrington (Josh) Bush, McKenna Brown, Eli Brown, Lucas (Erica) Edwards, Hannah Edwards, Spencer Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandmother, Lillian Shelton, who helped to raise and guide him into the man he became.
