Funeral service for Mr. Jerry Thomas Delap, age 81, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.
Mr. Delap was born on July 28, 1937 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Melvin Martin and Doris Howell Delap. He was previously co-owner of MM Delap and Sons Gin and Farm Center and presently employed by Elora Gin and Warehouse. He was a member of the Howell Hill Church of Christ. Mr. Delap passed away on August 6, 2018 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Pitts Delap; son, Randy (Andrea) Delap of Fayetteville, TN; daughter, Kay Delap Eason of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren, Eli, Sam, and Evan Eason; step-children, Lana (Ricky) Decker and Lisa (Greg) Eaton all of Fayetteville, TN; step-grandchildren, Hannah and Connor Eaton and Luke Decker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pat Eslick Delap, and brother, Charles M. Delap.
Visitation with the family will be held at 4 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Delap.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Howell Hill Church of Christ Building Fund at 521 Corders Crossroads Rd, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
I did not know Jerry Delap but I do know if he was the Father of Randy Delap he had to be a very fine man. Randy, Andrea, Kay, and Boys I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. You are all in my prayers at this time.

Kay, Randy and family, Mr .Jerrys passing was just brought to my attention. I am so glad I made the decision to stop by and visit a couple of weeks ago. My heart breaks at the news. Oh my friends, I’m so sad. Jerry and I had a special friendship. Just as I told him many times; “If you need me, I’ll be there”. He always replied with, “I know you will”. I hope you all know I will too. I’m so happy he came by last week. I’ll miss him so much.

So very sorry to see this. Jerry has been a friend to my family for as long as I can remember. Daddy thought the world Mr. Melvin, Mrs. Doris and both the “boys.” Jerry was just seven or eight when Daddy and Mother first moved to the Lincoln community and became friends of the Delap Family. Jerry has been a pillar of the Lincoln Community all his adult life and will be greatly missed!
