Obituary

Funeral service for Jeff Young, age 54 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kirkland Baptist Church, with Robert Wright, Mac Rogers and Tom Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Cemetery. Mr. Young passed away Thursday evening at Donalson Care Center.

Mr. Young was a native of Williamson County, son of the late Johnny Thurman and Juell McAlister Young. He enjoyed spending time with his buddies and everyone was his buddy. He had been a part of the Skills Development Services programs since the late 70’s and had lived and worked in Tullahoma before moving to Fayetteville. Since moving to Lincoln County, Jeff continued to be a part of Skills programs. He attended the day habilitation center, worked through the supported employment program at Five Star Laundry and Arby’s and lived in the community with several of his friends. He worked at Arby’s until recently when his health prevented his continued employment. Jeff was an avid sports fan having particular interest in Lincoln County Falcon Football and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Jeff recently visited Tuscaloosa and Bryant-Denny Stadium. He also was quite fond of music, having a large collection of music across a broad spectrum of taste. He thoroughly enjoyed Elvis and very recently spent several days in Memphis visiting Graceland and taking in all things Elvis.

He is survived by his uncle Thomas Lloyd Young, aunt Anna McAlister Marshall, step-mother Louise Young all of Fayetteville, a host of cousins, family and friends and his extended family at Skills Development Services. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents John William and Agnes Moore McAlister, Frank and Alice Scott Young.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 12 until 2 pm at Kirkland Baptist Church.
